The Omaha Symphony has identified Benjamin Klemme as a promising young conductor and has invited him to participate this May in the Omaha Symphony Conductor Symposium. There he will work with renowned conductors Larry Rachleff and Thomas Wilkins during this four-day symposium, which will focus on preparing young conductors for the musical and administrative demands on the 21st century music director. On March 14 and 15, 2009, Benjamin Klemme and Con Vivo! (a chamber orchestra of the SFYSA) will collaborate with Moving People Dance and world-famous artist Bobby McFerrin. This weekend of music-making will take place at the Lensic Performing Arts Center in Santa Fe and proceeds will benefit dance and music education in northern New Mexico. In his first collaboration with the Eldorado Children's Theatre, Benjamin Klemme will lead the January/February 2009 production of Fiddler on the Roof. Benjamin Klemme and the Santa Fe Youth Symphony Orchestra have commissioned composer Alexandra T. Bryant to write a new work for orchestra celebrating the 15th anniversary of their organization. Bryant's "Blue Doors" will be premiered at the St. Francis Auditorium on December 14, 2008. This project is made possible by the generous support of the Mill Atelier Foundation.
